Raising Sexual Beings Without Shame - With Desi
Things We Wish We Would've Known - It is not our *girl's* responsibility, as women, to make sure our brothers in Christ do not fall. It is not our *girl's* responsibility to make ourselves smaller or cover up to make others comfortable.
Desi grew up in a Christian home, a pastors kid, went to a small bible college and grew up in the same "purity culture" I experienced in the church. As a woman who, today, leads worship at her own church, it is interesting to get her take on what "purity culture" has done to shape her mind as young woman, and how she is still deconstructing those ways and views on what that means for girls/women.
This conversation also leads us to discuss what it looks like for us to not have our children carry that weight and responsibility or shame on sex, their developing bodies, their desires, etc. and how to go about doing so.
